Foundational MPH Competencies

#3. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using biostatistics, informatics, computer-based programming, and software, as appropriate.

Goal: Learn the data collection strategy of different national-level organizations.

 Objectives:

#1: Utilize SAS 9.4 statistical software to analyze extensive surveys for the whole study.

#2: Learn about two large nationally representative NHANES survey cycles and different interview approaches during the data collection.

#4: Interpret results of data analysis for public health research, policy, or practice.

Goal: Generate insights from the analyses and provide implications for further research, if needed

Objectives:

#1: Generate results and insights into the TB’s association with the total cholesterol analysis using NHANES data

#2: Select an organization that could benefit and provide insights on possible targeted interventions before the start of the capstone.

#19: Communicate audience-appropriate public health content, both in writing and through oral presentation.

Goal: Develop manuscript from scratch to publication

Objectives:

#1: Create a manuscript report in a sample populations level of understanding, and make it publicly available

#2: Deliver the deliverables to CDC and WHO for assessment and policy-making at the end of the capstone.

Epidemiological Competencies

#4: Generate hypotheses and develop an appropriate study design to answer a specific epidemiologic research question. a

Goal: Identify the approaches to perform evidence-based research based on the existing research gap

Objectives:

#1 Develop a hypothesis on the association of TB and utilize a cross-sectional study design to add to the current research progress.

#2: Create a literature review matrix to understand TB research's current position better.

#5: Demonstrate ability to manage data sets, design and execute a data analysis plan, and draw appropriate inferences from results.

Goal: Identify necessary datasets and perform statistical analyses to generate insights

Objectives:

#1: Search official websites and journals to identify relevant datasets for the research, including assessing dataset validity and appropriateness based on the scope of the study.

#2: Analyze identified dataset to generate insights on TB's risk or protective factors.
